Training
Jacob Larmour is an enthusiastic practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). He is a graduate of the Tzu Chi International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCICTCM) in Vancouver, BC. He is licensed in the province of British Columbia by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC) as a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (RTCMP). This means that he is qualified to practice both acupuncture and Chinese herbalism, as well as Tui Na, Cupping and Medical Qi Gong. Before acupuncture school, he completed a three year course of study with the International Institute of Medical Qigong.
Jacob began his training in Tai Chi, Qi Gong and the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1982. He studied with Grandmaster Tchoung Ta-tchen and Dr Danica Beggs in Vancouver, BC. Since then, he has worked with western astrology, hermetics, ceremonial magic, I-ching, herbalism, organic farming, Castenada shamanism, Discordianism, acupressure, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and other systems.
While studying Medical Qigong, he volunteered in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside with the Beauty Night Society. This work served as an internship in energetic healing. He subsequently went into private practice as a Medical Qi Gong Therapist while taking his TCM degree.
Experience
Jacob has been a practicing acupuncturist for over 4 years in Vancouver. He has over ten years of experience as a Medical Qigong Therapist. Before following the healer’s path, he had several careers over the years. He worked as a tree planter, an organic farmer/horticulturalist, and a small business owner.
Working as a Medical Qigong therapist before and during his TCM training gives him a strong energetic perspective on the practice of Chinese Medicine, though he is also informed by bio-medicine and integrates both approaches in his practice. Ideally he would like to see “alternative” medicine thoroughly integrated into a holistic multi-disciplinary spectrum of health care.
