About TCM Practitioner, Jacob Larmour

Jacob Larmour is an enthusiastic practitioner of Eastern Medicine. He is a graduate of the Tzu Chi International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCICTCM) in Vancouver, BC, and is licensed in the province of British Columbia by the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists (CTCMA) as a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (RTCMP). This means that he is qualified to practice both acupuncture and Chinese herbalism, as well as Tui Na, Cupping and Medical Qi Gong. He completed a three year course of study with the International Institute of Medical Qigong and Shamanistic Qi Gong with the Empty Mountain Institute.

Jacob began his training in Tai Chi, Qi Gong and the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1982, studying with Grandmaster Tchoung Ta-tchen and Dr Danica Beggs in Vancouver, BC. Since then, he has worked with western astrology, hermetics, ceremonial magic, I-ching, herbalism, organic farming, Castenada shamanism, Discordianism, acupressure, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and other systems. He worked extensively in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside with the Beauty Night Society during his internship before going into private practice as a Medical Qi Gong Therapist while taking his TCM degree.

He has had several careers over the years, working as a tree planter, an organic farmer/horticulturalist, and a small business owner before following the path of a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. Having worked as a Medical Qi Gong therapist before and during his TCM training gives him a strong energetic perspective on the practice of Chinese Medicine, though he is also informed by bio-medicine and integrates both approaches in his practice. Ideally he would like to see “alternative” medicine thoroughly integrated into a holistic multi-disciplinary spectrum of health care.
